Satellite Explosion

A satellite explosion refers to the sudden and violent disintegration of a satellite in space or upon re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere. This event can occur due to various reasons, including internal failures, such as battery malfunctions or fuel explosions, or external factors like collisions with other objects. Such explosions pose risks not only to the satellite itself but also to other satellites and space debris, contributing to the growing issue of space debris in Earth’s orbit. The debris generated by a satellite explosion can remain in orbit for years, creating hazards for operational spacecraft and leading to potential collisions. Additionally, when satellites explode during re-entry, fragments may fall to the Earth’s surface, although the likelihood of harming people or property is typically low.
