Pangong Lake

Pangong Lake is a high-altitude, endorheic lake located in the Himalayas, primarily in the Ladakh region of India, although it also extends into Tibet. The lake is known for its stunning, clear blue waters and its dramatic landscape, framed by snow-capped mountains. Spanning approximately 134 kilometers in length, Pangong Lake has a varying width and reaches depths of up to 100 meters. Its salinity is lower than that of seawater, but it is not suitable for drinking. The lake is a significant tourist destination and is famous for its picturesque views and changing colors, which can range from deep blue to green and even shades of red and purple, depending on the time of day and the weather conditions. The surrounding area is home to diverse wildlife and serves as a habitat for various migratory birds. Pangong Lake gained international recognition due to its appearance in several films, making it an iconic representation of India’s natural beauty.
