New Glenn
New Glenn is a reusable orbital launch vehicle being developed by Blue Origin, an aerospace manufacturer and spaceflight services company founded by Jeff Bezos. Named after astronaut John Glenn, the rocket is designed to carry heavy payloads to low Earth orbit (LEO) and beyond. New Glenn features a two-stage design, with the first stage powered by seven BE-4 engines, which utilize liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen as propellants. The vehicle aims to provide access to space for various applications, including commercial satellite launches, scientific missions, and crewed spaceflight. Its reusability is intended to lower the cost of space access, similar to Blue Origin’s earlier suborbital New Shepard rocket. New Glenn is part of a broader trend in the aerospace industry toward developing reusable launch systems to promote sustainability and efficiency in space exploration and commercial space activities.
