NATO

NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is a military alliance established in 1949. It was formed primarily for collective defense against aggression, ensuring that an armed attack against one or more of its members is considered an attack against all. The organization promotes democratic values and enables members to collaborate on defense and security-related issues. NATO’s primary purpose is to safeguard the freedom and security of its member countries through political and military means. The alliance originally consisted of 12 countries but has since expanded to include 31 member states as of 2023.
