GOES-19

GOES-19 is a weather satellite that is part of the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) system, operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the United States. Launched in June 2018, it is designed to provide continuous monitoring of weather conditions in the Western Hemisphere. GOES-19 carries advanced imaging and atmospheric sounding instruments that allow it to capture real-time data on severe weather events, such as hurricanes, storms, and other meteorological phenomena. As a geostationary satellite, it remains fixed over a specific point on the Earth’s surface, providing consistent and timely updates on weather changes, supporting forecasting, and aiding in disaster response efforts.
