Gigafactory

A Gigafactory is a large-scale facility designed for the mass production of batteries and related components, primarily for electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems. The term became widely recognized through Tesla, which built its first Gigafactory in Nevada to produce lithium-ion batteries at a scale that can significantly lower battery costs and meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions. Gigafactories typically integrate advanced manufacturing processes and aim for high efficiency, sustainability, and a reduced carbon footprint. The concept has since been adopted by other companies aiming to boost electric vehicle production and energy storage capabilities.
